What is Chatopia?
Chatopia is an interactive story game played in a chat app. You text with a cast of AI characters, in private chats and group chats, and your replies shape how the story unfolds and ends.
Is Chatopia free?
Yes, you can start for free. Every player gets a daily message allowance, and signing up raises it.
Do I need an account?
No. You can play as a guest straight away. Create an account when you want to keep your stories across devices; the stories you started as a guest come with you.
Which languages can I play in?
English and Bahasa Indonesia. Each story keeps one language from start to finish, and the app itself can use a different one.
Do characters message me when I'm not playing?
They can. If you go quiet, a character may follow up the way a friend would. They respect your local night hours and stop after a couple of tries.
How is this different from chatting with an AI chatbot?
A chatbot answers you. In Chatopia a story director plans the plot, chapters, clues and endings, and several characters act on their own: they talk to each other, keep secrets and sometimes lie to you.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Chatopia runs in your phone's browser and is built to feel like a messenger. There's nothing to install.
Why is Chatopia's mascot a dolphin?
Dolphins are some of the best communicators in nature. They call each other by signature whistles and find their way through dark water by sonar. Chatopia is chat + utopia, a small world made entirely of conversations, so a dolphin felt like the right guide.
